Default Shoulder Checks use them !!!!

I have had my first scare today on my way downtown Edmonton today, I was going south on 97th st. and I had this driver in a minivan tailing me so i kept a close eye on her and sure enough I found myself in a tight spot, I had stopped behind a 5 ton truck and when I stopped I did my shoulder checks and sure enough it did save my life. By keeping vigilent checks going in my mirrors and then looking over my shoulders when i stopped I noticed she was not stopping, when I did. Thinking quick and keeping myself an out I took the out. It was a good thing I did cause she almost plowed into the back of the truck. I did not hear a crash so I am assuming she didn't hit the truck, I am just glad I took a bike safety course cause I believe today it saved my life and my bike.
