Default Almost Rearended On Freeway

Last night, coming home from work at about 11PM. I was in the exit lane going about 65mph. I had been in this lane for several hundred yards, a vehicle well ahead of me and nobody behind me. All of the sudden, I hear screeching tires. I look in the mirror and see headlights coming at me fast and very close. I was thinking 'prepare for impact', they were that close. Then I decided to give my bike (SV650) all the throttle it had. Amazingly, I accelerated out of harm's way. I think they missed me by inches.

When I got to the stop light, after taking my exit, I was considering dropping the kickstand and confronting those idiots. Well, they didn't give me the chance, they were going very slow when they approached the intersection and took the u-turn lane. As they went by, they were all looking at me (a carload of kids) with a stunned look on their face's. I think the incident scared the cr@p out of them.

Looking back at the incident, I believe that they had been traveling at a very high rate of speed, may have been drinking, and decided to take the exit at the last minute.

I thank God that I was in a low enough gear to quickly accelerate away from them and that I had the room in front of me to do so.

probably were thinking to themselves,

"Oh crap, there was a motorcycle there?"

"I didn't see it, did you?"

People who arnt looking for a bike don't usually see it untill too late.

Similar situation happend to me the other day as I were slowing down to make a right turn, I noticed this van right on my rear tire. The freakin van was so close I had to swerve and keep going through the light cause I didn't want to slow down anymore for fear that I would be flattend out by this van, and I was going to fast to make a sharp right turn. I'm just glad the cars at the light where I was making the right were all going left cause if one had jumped out and made a right I would have ran completely in to them.

Dodged a major bullet with that fancy throttle twist.
