Was coming home tonight and noticed an SUV with it's hazards on following a biker who also had a passenger. I figured it was a buddy just trailing his friend on a new bike or something. An OK idea if the SUV driver is also a rider and knows what to look for, otherwise that's a rear-end waiting to happen. Anyways, I followed a ways behind up until a red light. The biker came into the light too fast, and had to really slam on the brakes to stop in time. SUV was far back enough so they were fine. But then the biker lost control of the bike (forward momentum) and looked as if he were going to drop it (to the right). I was in the right lane and jsut passing them (4-5 car lengths until i had to stop, maybe 10-20MPH?) when the passenger jumped off and the other rider grabbed to try and save the bike. I was for SURE he would fall with the bike, into my lane, and I would decapitate him, or at least run over his bike. Slammed on my brakes as hard as ever, came to a stop before I got past him. Luckily, he didn't drop the bike, and the passenger climbed back on. As I creep past them at maybe 5MPH i gave him the " " look...And all he does is revv his engine and look at me like " I was kinda mad, but more relieved my brakes on my 13 year old car jsut got changed and I didn't kill anyone. |
