Exclamation Worst Place in the world to ride......

Finally figured it out. Riding to work yesterday it hit me that the worst place to ride is by a Donut shop in the moring when the cagers are in a hurry with cell phone in one hand, coffee in the other and steering with there knee. Their are late for work and calling thier BOSS and NOT LOOKING FOR US!!
Dam Scary
Not so bad going home but I definatly don't go to work by the coffe shops.

Oh man you said it In SE Penna. there are a chain of gas/deli/convenience shops called Wawa. While they are actually quite a nice place they are a zoo in the mornings. I ride past one on my way to work and what you describe is exactally what takes place. You really have to be on high alert when you ride past.

I can top that. Today I drove by a high school letting the older kids out for lunch. THey were also all on cell phones and driving like idiots. They were running the red light in front of the school, not paying attention and speeding. I am tempted to contact the school of the problem and perhaps persuade them to moniter the parking lot/street light.

I agree Shea, some mom in a suburban on a cell phone pulled right out in front of me and my son leaving his school today - still in the parking lot - but a quick blast of the C50's might stock horn startled her into locking up her brakes. I was shocked that she heard the pathetic little squeak, i was ready for her to just keep going.

It's amazing how somebody can come to a stop sign at a T interesection and just want to cruise through with her head turned all the way to the left the whole way - never looking right. Man, if I was only driving a big rusty dump truck. Hang it up and drive, beotch...

I drive through DC to get to Arlington, VA every day ... and I live inside the B'more beltway. ... been driving to Arlington for the last 8 years .... and still almost every day I see something so stupid it amazes me, worse drivers in the world are in North VA and DC ... at least 3% are total ****ing morons, with less then 100 IQ, no question about it. When I ride, I figure every cager is out to kill me, and 'round here I'm probably not wrong in thinking that.

I wonder which is the worst; Morning, noon or afternoon drivers? I have to say I see some pretty amazing stuff in the morning. The other night a kid had porn playing up on his dash board. How am I suppose to drive with that going on.

The moron drivers in Toronto would give them a run for their money. I find that on my travels in the states , American drivers are a lot better than canadians.

The DC area is the worst I've seen in the U.S., worse than NYC, Chicago, LA or Atlanta. The old people in Florida can be pretty scary though. If Canadians are worse than DC drivers, that explains the really high insiurance rates up there! (but it doesn't explain why you guys are still alive...)

I have been to DC twice, so I can vouch for that. Bottom line is though that any major city can be harsh to drive in. My problem is that DC's trafic patterns are a little odd if you're not from the area.

I've driven all over the place on the east coast. DC drivers simply do not care if they kill you. they are the most ignorant *******s on the planet. the trick is not to show any weekness on the roads around here, if you do, it will get exploited and you'll die... if they think they'll get their *** kicked by you, you have a better chance... they will try as hard to kill you. that's what i've noticed in my last 8 years driving through DC on a dayly basis.

LOL
...And now with the WAWA/Gas Stations. Are you familiar with the new one down Aramingo near I95? It feels like one have to dispense extra eyes like a pilot dispenses flares. LOL That is one dangerous area with the race to get on 95 or off in the afternoon.
I was almost run over by some cupid doll in a Scalade. She could barely see over the dashboard, Rap music blasting and her cell plasted in her face.

i am always on the look out 360* but i ride differently depending which part of the city I am in. Some areas people behave differently than others.
This past Friday I went to my first bikers viewing/funeral. biker was rear ended by some female in a minivan. Her excusae is that she was afraid in that area. Bike was stopped at a traffic light waiting, in a mayor road full of traffic. A local and express lanes road. She was affraid!
