Default Highway Bars

Do any of y'all have highway bars on your bike? I know they help protect the bike if it's ever dropped, but some say they can be used for comfort, as well, and allow you to stretch out your legs. I looked it up on the net, and I see how some have the built in foot-pegs. Mine don't, and with the angled bend of the tubing at the bottom, I really don't have enough room to put my feet there, or else they are rubbing against some exhaust pipes. (I learned that on the road when I started smelling a little burnt rubber!) Am I the only one with that problem? Are these bars for protection only?

Man what a bummer. Thought it was going to be about some interesting watering holes on the highways.

I'm truly sorry Lew. If it helps, I hear in Texas they have drive-thru liquor stores...

Yep, have one right next door in Harker Heights (Killeen is a dry city).

I don't know if your'e looking for something like what I put on my bike, it's a Lindbar (http://www.lindbycustom.com). I wanted something that had a different look, gave me a place to stretch out my legs, and would be wide enough to protect the tank if the bike should tip.

From what I read here the Lindby's that fit the M50 are the VL800 #16240041.

Do a quick search and you should get lots of results.
