Default Electrical problem

So I jump on the bike today and I look down and see that all my tripometers and time have reset. I think "WTF happened?" I am riding the bike, still cold and it's doing its' regular sputtering, just ever so slightly until it warms up (from the new muffler making it run leaner until it gets hot) and I start to get paranoid. I think "did the battery tender screw something up?...perhaps there is something electrical that burned up when I installed the wires for the bettery tender?" I came home and mentioned it to my wife, who is the most un-mechanical person I have ever met, if there is such a word. She replies, without hesitation, "Well, when you unhook a battery to instal something, it usually resets all that stuff". Bwahahahahahahaha I felt like such a freakin idiot. I totally forgot I had to take off the battery wires to hook up my battery tender connector.
