The first day I got mi bike I left it in the driveway......facing down.... I turned around and started walking to the house and I heard it fall....two turn signals and one mirror broke; the tank badge in pretty bad shape and the tank with a dent; I replaced all the broken stuff and am now getting the pop-a-dent to work on the dent.

That evening I read the manual and saw it....you need to park it facing up....

Talk about feeling like a fool....

second day of owning my bike - just last week, was repositioning it in its new spot
(you ALL know, so its just at the right angle and looks all cool.. . .)
went to lean her over onto her stand and the damn stand flipped up
she dropped like a sack of suzuki
luckily towards me and as i was still holding her, so i was able to catch her just before she hit the ground but the shooting pains in my lower back remind me everyday that just because my bike is cool, i'm not.

My 2 cents.
Our instructor said to always give the bike a little pulll backwards to lock the stand.

Last year I stalled the bike in the middle of the street making a left turn and had to quickly duck walk backwards to the median lane as cars were coming towards me. I was in 2nd gear while I was stopped.

i know it is a bit of topic, but when i first learned to drive (car) I was in my bug (1974) and was turning left, and just before I turned (Luckily) a fuse blew and the whole car went dead. I had to change the fuse without being able to get out of the car (traffic) and it was dark.

Again I apologize for the off topic-ness.

I like the kick stand tip. Also I have gotten in the habit of shaking the bike a bit once I set it down to make sure everything is stable.
