| Newbie | Well I got her today. What an amazing bike! I never even took her above 7k RPM's or half throttle and she can outperform my Supercoupe. The only thing that gave me any trouble is the clutch. That thing kicks in much faster than any bike I've ridden. I guess it's to be expected from a bike with a racing heritage. I'm getting used to it pretty quickly though. The only real complaint I have with the bike is the tiny grips. They make my hands cramp a bit. Does anyone sell anything to slip over them to make them larger, or even new ones if necessary? I'd like some foam ones like what my four-wheeler has. Man I wish it wasn't supposed to rain tomorrow...

| Congrats on your YZF600R! Don't forget to post some pics (maybe in the R-Rated Yamaha forum).

| Newbie | I have some pics now but they don't look very good because they were taken at night. I'll try to get you guys some pics soon. Also, I found out my problem with take-offs wasn't just because of the quick-throw clutch. The chain was very loose too. I heard it popping but it just didn't occur to me that it was the chain at first. I tightened her up and she drives much better now. I guess the previous owner didn't know how to tighten a chain.

| You can get a disc lock with an alarm, they cost a lot more than a regular disc lock though. My local shop has a disc lock for $29 and one with an alarm for $129 . big difference I'd say ! But of course they would be a lot cheaper in the States.

| Why not just pull it inside your house? If you have steps, build yourself a ramp. I live in an apt and I see lots of people on the first floor doing that. I would but I'm on the third On another note, my buddies gixxer got stolen. He had one of the huge cable locks going around the wheels and frame so you couldn't roll it and one moring he went out to get on it and it was gone. That makes me think that the disc lock is pretty useless. |

| Liberal translation: -You can't put the Harley in the house! -and why not? -it stands in the way, smells and drips on the carpet -so does your Mother and she's still here. Pretty good Jim?

| Hi Kenshi, I took the course long after I was riding and learned quite a lot. I think it was worth every penny. As for security, I live in an appartement building so the bike is outside all summer. I got myself a chain made of kryptonite at the Yamaha dealer. Some Canadian Tire will also have some in stock. It can only be cut with a blow torch and takes about 20 minutes. So far so good for me, no incident yet. My next gizmo will probably be a disk lock with intergrated alarm. |

| I know, I know, It's made of a triple heated hardened metal or something, but it's just easier to say Kryptonite, like Kleenex. Here an image is supposed to be worth a thousand words.

| Pretty interesting points made here but I have to get some advice on this. I don't have a garage on my house and I really don't want to put my bike in the back yard for my yard becomes a real mess (muddy) when it rains. I would prefer to lock the wheels and cover it and leave it in my driveway. I live in a ok neighborhood but like everyone says if a thief wants it he'll get it. My question is should I drag it through mud everyday and just clean it off or leave it in the front of the house "covered of course and locked"? Any advice will do
