Default A Folgers coffee can won't hold 3.5 qts of oil

On my first oil change, before I lowered my bike and before I bought the jack, I trimmed the top off of a coffee can to slide it under the bike. I guess I had a “senior” moment; never thought about how much oil was in the bike or how much the can would hold. Well, needless to say I had a major oil spill to clean up.

Anyway, I just now changed my oil for the third time. It’s a lot easier with the jack. And the larger bonus size Folgers can will easily hold the oil and fits under the bike inside the frame of the jack.

Sounds about like the time I left my newly filled oil catch pan in the driveway. Later that day I found it partially spilled with lots of small footprints nearby. The neighbor got a ring on his doorbell about that one.

that's why I use one of those huge oil containers.

Lets me wait until a few changes before I dump it at autozone

Anyone ever seen a Jiffy-Lube for motorcycles? A lot of the big rallies have temporary ones set up, but I've never seen a permanent one. Might be a good business for someone to start down south.

Yeah, I've got one of those too, but it won't fit under the bike with the jack there.

My dump pan fit under. I don't have a jack yet so I used a 2X4 under the kickstand. Worked fine, though a little tight getting the hand b/t the pan and the frame to remove the oil plug.

Daryl, I got the $80.00 Sears jack, it works fine for my use. http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/produ...Lift+Equipment

And that is the full strength Folgers. Decaf coffee is like non-alcohol beer, just not worth the effort.

I've forgotten to remove the drain pan from under the car before. I remembered right after I pulled the car off the ramps and I heard it go "crunch!"

I did the same thing and the cap came off and squirted oil everywhere!

Would one of those oil drain containers that you use for a car oil change fit under a bike ?

If it isn't lowered and you don't have it on a jack, I'd think so.
