Yeah this thread is ancient. I ride a BMW with ABS now so my wheels don't lock up anymore cold tires or not. I also have linked brakes so most of the time I just pull gently on the power assisted front brake and the bike automatically applies the appropriate amount of rear brake for me. It's good stuff and about 50 years forward in technology from the Marauder.

The Marauder's rear brake is a drum its also cable actuated not hydralic so it can lock up pretty easily if misused. Combine that with cold tires, cold/wet street and the fact that I was running harder Metzeler touring tires on the bike, well I'm suprised I didn't lock the tire up more often.

Could've hit a grease spot at the wrong moment. I've had that happen a few times, then the water on the road compounds it. Last time that happened i was turning out of a parking lot and was just throttling up, that's scarier than braking lol..
