Default knocking noise?

When im sitting idling at a stop light, it seems like there is knocking noise coming from the engine, dont know if maybe if it is just a normal engine noise or exhaust noise, but it seems to go away above idle. it is an 03 sv1000s with 6000 miles. just bought it used.

Knocking means the engine is asking for more RPMs or more octane. I think your bike might be idling slowly, but I'm no mechanic. Other people can help more, but try keeping the choke (is it carbeurated) open SLIGHTLY so it idles faster and see if the noise is still there.

I'm no expert but knocking noises can be from a lot of different things; most of them not good. Giving the bike more revs probably just covers up the noise.... Has the bike been stunted on?? The SV60's have oil starvation issues when on one wheel (I am not sure about the 1000's though)..... Then again, it could just be noisey cam chains, which is no big deal
