| Hey all, This is my first post, so hope it's not too newbie filled. I've done some searching, but wondering if any of the more experience people could help with advice. I bought a 82 GS450e about 2 months ago and its in great condition aesthetically and ran well, started and for an old bike, behaved normally (long warm up time, etc but was great once warm). The other night, it was running great, for about 20 minutes, then started to sputter a bit, nearly stalling, so i figured I was low on gas and went to fill up. I wasn't empty but a bit low. Filled up, had a pretty rough start considering the bike was warm (so I thought), had to give it full throttle a few times, then it started, but again felt a like it was going to stall. Kept the revs up at lights, and rode home (a mere 1/4 mile away). Shut her down. then woke up the next morning and gas was everywhere, seemingly leaking from a black hose (is it a vent hose?) under the carbs. I opened the gas tank and about 3/4 of the gas was gone. But it had stopped 'leaking'. Now I can't start it....battery is fine (charged it) and you can hear the strong battery starting, but no turn over from the engine. Almost as if its not getting fuel. But fuel line seems to be connected etc. Do you guys think my carbs are clogged, if not, what could be stoppin the gas to flow? Did I flood it? It sounds very 'dead' as in no turn over of engine at all. From the searching I've done i think the next test is to see if gas is going out of the fuel line/remove spark plug, but any other advice is appreciated. Sorry for the long thread, just wanted to give as many details as possible.thanks for reading. |
