83 Suzuki GS550L

Hi, I just picked up an 83 Sukuki GS550L to use as a commuter, instead of my diesel pickup.

It's not running, but everything is there.

I plan on doing the regular stuff to get it going, Oil change, plugs and wires, clean carbs, battery, and go over everything else.

Got it off my truck and started to mess around with it, first problem.... side stand light is illuminated. I guess it wont crank unless this light is extinguished, and I traced from the switch, (near the stand), all the way up to the light bulb in the speedo, and everything checks out. Can't find a wiring diagram specific to my bike, and cant figure out what components in this system need to be fixed.

I would just like to get rid of this altogether if they dont look at this when I get it inspected.

Looking for tips on what to check, or how to delete this feature.
