There are a couple of VX800 web sites out there. VERY hard to find aftermarket performance parts, as the bike was in production for only two years and it sold poorly, so most companies do not find it worth their time to develop products for it. The motor went into the Intruder 800 though (the only change being the wap to an electric fuel pump), so engine parts are easy to find, as are things like clutch parts and suspension parts.
The only way to really know if the valves need adjustment is to pull the covers and check. But with only 9700 miles you should be fine- I've never had to adjust them before 20,000-25,000 miles.

Cool VX800 stuff

I've been working on a VX800 for a while. I've also found suspension and engine parts easy to come by, but exhaust is another matter. If you find any suppliers for exhaust parts or performance parts for this bike, please let me know! I'd love to find a jardane full exhaust system for the bike, but right now I'm leaning toward putting on a slip on muffler set...
