| It's time to get off the road and take care of some housekeeping. I'd like to know if anyone's done a DIY tuneup on a 2003 Suzuki Volusia 805cc. Are the valves mechanically adjusted, or are shims used? Any advice is appreciated! Howard |

| The valves are mechanically adjusted, with a 10mm lock nut on the adjuster, and a square 2mm box head on the adjuster itself. It's not hard to do, just frustrating to get the covers off in the tight space, and frustrating to get the feeler guage in. I have a set of feeler guages I bent so that the last 1/2 inch is stepped down about 1/4 inch, and that makes getting the guages in and out of Suzuki heads a lot easier.
