|  1980 gs 550L pops out of second gear hi im new to this forum and i was hoping someone could help me. i have a 1980 GS 550 L that a friend of my fathers gave me. Everything on the bike seems to work fine but he said that occasionally while in second gear it will pop out, what should i do to fix this problem?

| It could be the selector forks in the gearbox,If you have a manual and are mechanicaly minded you should be able to sort the gearbox out. 1. with new parts. 2. or with a complete gear box assembly. 3. ghange out the whole engine. 4. Live with it until you have no 2nd gear atall. Other members might have better suggestions.

| Fresh oil may help, as well as a conscious effort to shift firmly. I've owned bikes that would jump out if I was lazy on the upshift.
