| I am looking for hard bags for my S50. Leather Lyke looks good and affordable, but I have heard some bad things about the quality (bags cracking, locks breaking, not rigid allowing the locks to be popped open). I am open to advice on any of the bags - I have outgrown my soft saddlebags and need to find something new! Thanks |

| Leatherlyke is your only option for 'off the shelf' hard bags for the S50. I've had them for years without problems. Cracking is only a problem if you overstuff them, like with any hard bags, and any hard bags can be pried open if you try, so the Leatherlykes have no issues that you won't find on any other brand.

| Are you limiting your choices to the "cruiser look"? Otherwise, check out Givi. They're the leader in touring circles.

| Thanks for the input - I have ordered the Leatherlyke bags. I looked high and low (givi, national, champion, etc) since I am not picky about style, but no one else makes anything that will fit the S50.....

| You're right. No one seems to make a mount for cruisers. I think I'd buy a Wingrack or a tubular rack and fabricate some attachments. A bit ambitious, I know, but it's almost winter. What else do you have to do?

| The problem with the Intruder 800/ S50 is that the rear fender is very narrow, the fender struts are prominent, and the rear shocks stick out about 5 inches on each side. So in order to not have an ugly 5 to 6-inch gap between the bag and fender the rear of the bag needs to be form fitted to the shock.

| You're gonna love them, Mom. I love mine. Smashed my first set (and bike) after 2+ years of use in a wreck...but never had any issues with the bags cracking. 2nd set I got off Ebay last month for ~$330. Paid dealer to mount first set. Local bud & I mounted the 2nd set (to new bike) just this past Sunday. I suggest to use a wiretie when doing the turn signal relocation (after you do all their directions) to anchor the wiring to the bracket under the rear fender. Only issue I had with first set is they weren't wire-tied there by the dealer...and 2 years after ownership, they worked loose from the "clip" under the fender and were worn through by rubbing on the rear tire. |
