| Hello! I am the very proud owner of a beautiful blue '07 Suzuki Bandit 650S! I am new to motorcycles, so I have a couple of questions. Should I be topping up the oil? It is about a 1/3 to a 1/2 way between full and empty when the bike is on the centrestand. If so, should I continue with the oil the dealership used, or is there a better option? Also, I see some small scratches in the clear coat on the tank--what is the best way to protect the finish? I've waxed the bike about 5 times now. Thirdly, is there any way to protect the 'naked' portion of the bike? Thanks in advance for your help! It's nice to see so many other Bandit owners. |

| Welcome RC Fan ! Oil level is pretty safe anywhere between those two marks. Oil "type" will get you all kinds of answers because everyone has their own brand preferance. Basicly you can't go wrong with the dealer brand ....my opnion. Get a tank bra or tank pad to cover those scratches and prevent more. As for the last question .....it's a good one . I'll save it for one of the other 17 thousand members on here.

| Welcome! My Kawi is a naked bike and I've attached sliders on it and it has protected the engine when I did drop it. As for my gixxer, I got it all glass coated. This won't protect it from drop scratches but will protect it from hair line scratches it gets through daily use. Also you don't ever need to wax it. I think you can also get engine guards. There are these available for my Kawi too but with this bike, it just looked ugly so I decided to go with sliders instead.

| Where Am I ? | Congradulations on your new purchase - I too am a proud owner of an '07 650S (blue)!!! The bike meets all my expectations as a new rider and I hope it does the same for you!! To answer your last question: Not something a rider wants to think about - but if a bike goes down, it goes down - and there isn't a whole lot to protect the outcome of a dropped motorcycle. You can slap a full fairing on it, but thats not a good idea cause I don't like the look of a full fairing on the Bandit (thats just my opinion). Plus, a broken fairing costs lots to repair/replace and doesn't protect a whole lot anyway. Thus, the naked portion of your bike doesn't need protecting - just don't drop your bike ![]() Cheers, BTC
