Do you have the tag that came with keys with a number on it? That could be used to order another set of keys.

Only works if you bought the bike new from a dealer and they still have the paperwork and are willing to do the right thing.

do you remember how much it cost to have them order the new key?

i feel like it might be cheaper to buy a whole new switchh after all the charges i will get slapped with.

key- 3 bucks
other fees and taxes- 100

Are there not other things that require the same key??
Seat lock?
Helmet locks?
Storage compartment?

Most likely there is at least ONE other thing.

Take a deep breath, relax and pay attention.

The original key did more than operate the ignition.
It also unlocked the seat and maybe other things too.

If you replace the ignition switch, that NEW key will NOT open those other things.....like the seat or trunk or helmet lock or storage bin.....which ever of those you have.

Understand? If you replace the ignition switch, the bike will run but you will STILL have a problem.

yeah.
i understand
i need a running bike.
not having a helmet lock doesnt bother me. and breaking into a seat lock is probably the least challenging thing i will ever have to do with a motorcycle.

i am willing to sacrifice having a lock for my seat to cover my batter in order to have a running motorcycle.

When I got my 1973 GT750 it had no key, I removed the ignition switch and took it to a locksmith. They asked what year and type of bike then looked in a old card file and cut me a new key for $16!
