Default Front wheel mounted wrong?

I just had a Suzuki dealer replace my front wheel bearings, I have a 1998 1500LC. I was about to go out for a ride when I noticed the left front side of the pin that goes through the wheel appears to have a good half inch showing what I would think should be up against the inner fork of the left side. It has a ridge that looks like it should be flush with the fork but it is at least 1/2 inch or more from riding against the inside of the fork. Anyone have a 98' or later that can take a look and tell me how much of the pin that goes through the front wheel is showing on the left. This is the side without the brake cylinder. I popped off the outer cap and the bolt inside looks recessed about the same distance. Did he screw up big-time or is this normal? Don't want the wheel falling off during a turn, etc.

Thanks for any input. Any diagrams that show the actual front wheel assembly somewhere?

Gary

Sounds like a spacer is missing.
