Default How much would this cost?!?

I have a 03 Gixxer 750 for about a month now. Well recently I let my friend take it around my block and as soon as he was turning he gave it too much throttle and spun out laying my bike down on its left side (also spinning my bike 180 degrees). Here are the lists of damage...
1. Left fairing is badly scratched up an damaged. (needs replacing)
2. Up Fairing Stay is bent in on the left side (Handle
bar hits left side mirror when taking full right)
3. Bottom gear shift is broken off.
4. Speedometer is not coming on.
5. The horn doesn't work, along with the turn signal and the back tail light. (Because of speedometer???)
Anyone have a rough estimate of how much it would cost? With all these crazy gas prices going up even more, the last thing I want is my bike to remain down.
I wish I would have read proficient motorcycling sooner...it has some statistics of how many people crash according to the situation, and shows the risk of who is most likely to crash, an that is "Riders who are taught by friends or family".

OUCH!

Depends where you get the parts, with a Suzuki dealer charging top money, but you could source the parts either through breakers yards or ebay.
Don't know exact figures, but its not going to be cheap.
You also need to find out why some of the electrical stuff has failed before you will have a full idea of what you need.

Well I was planning on taking it to a mechanic but I figured most of the stuff I can do...the only thing I can't do is the electrical failures. I could work on the up fairing stay, gear shift, and fairings myself so that would save some labor $$ I guess. You think I'm looking into the $1,500 - $2000 Range? Please tell me less!!!

Hmmm, how about having your friend get you a newer bike... This is one reason why the Basic MSF course says you should be familiar with your ride. And ultimately becomes my excuse not to let anyone else ride mine. Just like a girlfriend or a wife, my bike demands respect. You wouldn't let another person sleep with your partner even if it's your friend, would you??? But it's too late for that... don't you have insurance on the bike???

Yeah I had to learn that the hard way. He told me he knew how to ride well. Guess that doesn't really matter anymore. I don't think the damage would cost as much as buying a new bike, and nope I haven't insured my bike yet, haven't took it out on the road yet except for a few times. Was planning on insuring it sometime this week or next, but no can do now. I expected the frame slider to hold its own for awhile, but it completely snapped off! At a very low speed too...maybe 7-8 mph?

Fairings don't come cheap... No blinkers are broken? No bar ends to replace? If only the gear shift is broken (provided nothing else inside is...) this ain't to bad...

As for the electrical... Could be just a fuse issue, but it could MUCH MUCH worse...

Might not reach $1500-$2000 but it's gonna be a real harsh lesson (I'd say close to $1000 but I'm no expert on this, these are basically just pulled out of my a$$ ). Hope your friend will pay for it.

None of the blinkers are actually broken, but I do think they aren't working only because the power to the speedometer isn't also. Are they linked to each other some way? None of the bar handles or anything is broken, the gear shift lever is the only thing that is broken off...not the whole piece. Well pullin estimates out of your *** is better than me being clueless... but still, thanks for the info, and yeah supposedly my friend is suppose to pay for it, i say supposedly only because he isn't too reliable when it comes down to money

Why do friends let other friends ride their bikes?? Especially those who've never ridden or ridden a bike of that power range before???

Well he was planning on purchasing a bike and he "claimed" he knows how to ride, and I believed him. You know how people are when they buy new things, we love to show it off. I also wanted him to get the feel for the gixxer before he bought his own. I've known him for years and years. This wasn't the first time he hopped on my bike. He got on it numerous times but I never expected him to finally drop it. But yeah I guess I had to learn the hard way...
