| Hi, another newbie with the same question... I am also looking at the ninja 500 and perhaps the sv650s, but I have a question about the 650... How does the power present itself on the sv650? Is it similar to cruiser v-twins such as the HD 883 sportster (which I have test driven)? I'm 40 and not looking for a crotch rocket to die on, just need some good basic two wheeled transportation that I can grow with and not have to do the flip thing with in a year. Any advice would be appreciated... (BTW, I'm not trying to hijack your thread here man, just looking for the same answers as you) Cheers, Brad |

| Dastardly villain ![]() | lol, it is ok, the thread is old. There are a few threads on the SV as a beginner bike. Do you have any riding experience? For the riders with some experience or your ability to be responsible enough for the power of an sv. The power is evenly dispursed throughout the power band. Great overall bike, my first bike. I was 20 years old and had dirtbike experience. I put 24k miles on the bike in 2 years. You won't regret getting an SV thats for sure! Just take the Motorcycle Safety Foundation class and ride safe. Both are good starter bikes, but I favor the SV!
