Default gas mileage?

Do any one typically know the average mileage given that I beleive the tank holds either 4.5 or 4.8 gallons... I knows its different from riding and racing. But on average how many miles do you usually get out of tank?!?!

Thanks

4.8 gallons in the tank. light goes on at about 140 miles and I usually have about a gallon left when that happens. get about 40mpg here

it depends on how you are riding. if i ride hard i get about 120-130mpg before the light comes on and if i'm taking it easy 140-160. i do have a k&n and a fitch feul catalyst. they both have helped my mpg..

any idea what the reserve actually has left in it? or when the light comes on? Is the blinking a last reminder?

if that thing costs you more than $10 I wouldn't buy it. I've seen plenty of those things and none of them work. but, to each his own. just my opinion

case in point I get the same mileage as the guy with the catalyst and the K&N air filter, and I have neither of them. people buy those things, notice a 2 mpg increase and think it must be what they just spent $100 on when it was probably just the change of weather.

i have used it on two bikes (95 rf900 and 02 gsxr1000) and it's well worth the money to me. the rf gained 2.8 hp on a dyno and 3-5 mpg depending on how i rode. i haven't put the gsxr on the dyno but i gained 3-5 mpg on it as well. plus you don't need a feul stabilizer for storage...

i'm not trying to start anything. but do you ride in the mountains, do you ride a 2002 gsxr1000 and do you weigh 320 lbs? i wouldn't think so. my feul light would come on at 130-137 miles before the fitch and i have made it as far as 167 miles with and the weather had nothing to do with that. it was 82 and sunny running as high as 4848' elevation.. i paid $39.95 for mine.. i have saved that in gas and stabilizer...

update on my mileage. it was 73-86 today and my first fill up was at 122 miles it took 2.2 gal
122 / 2.2 = 55.454545454545454545
how many of you are getting that on a gsxr1000
when i got home i had a 171 miles on the next tank and the light wasn't on yet. out of the 171 only 17 was highway miles @ 75-80mph .. i still think the k&n and the fitch really helped my mileage..

Best mileage I ever got from my 02 gixxer 1k was 43 mpg, just last week. The reason for the increase? I had the California Highway Patrol follow me for most of my ride home that afternoon! Kept it 5mph above the speed limit the entire way. But hey I got to see a lot of nice scenery. Must be the bright red bike = Cop Magnet.

That is with the K&N and a Yosh slip on. No fitch. The ride was also a steady climb from sea level to the mountains. Probably could have been a little better if it didn't feel so bogged down. It's not happy at 50 mph. Mines never stored so no need to use any stabilizer.
