|  Deals Gap Incident
A buddy of mine who has been riding sportbikes for over 20 years recently returned from Iraq & got a new ZX-12. He lives in Huntsville & we've been trying to link up for the past few months to ride Deals Gap in Tennessee. Unfortunately, our schedules have been conflicting. Hadn't talked to him in a few weeks so I called 'em the other day. He answered sounding very upset & kept telling me he did something stupid. He said he went riding up to Deals Gap w/some guys he really wasn't familiar w/and kinda got ahead of 'em while riding the curves. He said he glanced quickly in his rearview mirror to see if they were closing in on him but when he looked back forward again he was into a curve & had to lay his bike down  . He suffered two broken ribs, a broken toe, a very scraped forearm along w/a bunch of other scrapes & bruises. He survived but his bike was totaled. It's incredible how much attention is needed when riding. One glance can cost you. |
