Angry sv650s questions

Ok im new to this forum(im 18 ). My dad bought a 03 suzuki sv650s about 8 months ago and put around 1200 miles on it. He learned about my interest in bikes and went a bought himself a more powerful bike(05 r1) and now ths 650s is mine.

Im going to make a wise investment in some frame sliders and possibly other things that can protect the body b/c i dropped the bike at 0 mph on a hill.. but i minimized the fall that, unbelieveably, nothing got scratched, but the gear shifter broke off . I got a new shifter back on and now im set on sliders. what are good ones to get.. vortex.. woodcraft..? are lower fairing sliders a good addition as well b/c im going to get the lower fairing set after im a better rider.. Im just confused what is a good brand b/c there are so many... Woodcraft looks good b/c the solid body phucks...

Also, down the line when im a better rider, to get a yoshi rs3 pipe, MUST I get a powercommander? my dads planning to get a commander for his r1 and if i could somehow rig his commander instead of buying a new one for me b/c i know you download the maps from their website.... that would save a bunch of $$$. any advice is greatly appreciated.
