Default gsxr maintence

ca. models are supposed to get fi balanced. 10-40 mc fossil oil is called for
because syn oil, i'm told will cause the clutch to slip. a valve adj. is called for every 15000 mi. a new new air cleaner won't hurt. clean and adj. chain. check nuts and bolts for tightness. clean and wax bike, this gives you a chance to get a close look at the bike up close.

A couple of the guys I ride with have GSXR600. Check out the site WestCoastRidersForum.com. I bet they can help. This group doesnt seem too GSXR friendly It seems that as soon as people see you own a GSXR they think you a Squid..

I'll disagree with the not gixxer friendly part. Always a good idea to change the oil when you get a bike, you never really know when the oil was last changed, I just think it's good for a pice of mind. I use bardahl 10w-40 fully synthetic. No synthetic will not make your clutch slip, if you put a new clutch in, it needs to use non synthyetic for the break in prosess. I'm not positive of the amount of oil you'll need, there should be a sight glass on the right side of the crankcase for the oil level. I always use the suzuki filter, they are a really good filter, and not much more than the aftermarket guys. When checking the oil level, make sure that you put the bike stright up and down, not on the kick stand. Now getting to the chain, with no weight on the bike, you should tighten the chain untill it will move up and down 20 to 30 mm on the bottom part, with the top side tight. Next on the list, the fuel injection, so long as you use a good fuel, you won't need to do anything to it, all the fuel injectors are driven through the computer and other than what the manifacturer suggests, they rarly need maintainance. Last but far from least, yes, adjst the valves, not only will it affect the performance, the more clearance there is the faster the parts will wear. Good luck with the bike and let me know how things turn out.

I'll have to disagree with Smith also. What this sight is not friendly towards is inaccurate mechanical advise. Chad already answered that so I'll address the squidy part. There are only a handfull of GSXR riders regular here so if you ask gixxer advise you may have to wait till a gixxer owner answers your question. Not a question of being a squid. We do have some really cool people here who don't own gixxers and will go to great lengths to look up info for you and post it, but who can dictate their schedules? Keep posting, if enough gixxers post maybe we'll get our own forum. Who knows?

hey, I have an 03 gsxr 600 and mine is the same as yours... yosh exhaust, undertail ect ect. I have 2 service manuals if your interested I can send you one. Thye are great for looking at pictures to find out exactly what you need to do. I buy most of the parts for my bike on ebay. I got an entire clutch, basket, metal plates, friction plates, bearing, and springs for only $80 shipped. can't beat it. If you live near PA like I do, when ya put the bike away for the winter don't worry about doing anything special to it. Just wax it, put fresh oil in it, clean the chain real good, put fuel stabalizer in it, and make sure the tank is full. Then cover it and put it someplace ya can't see it cause you'll be itching for it to warm up!! as far as oil, I use castrol gtx 10w40. Had no problems yet. Adjust the valves at the start of every season, and adjust the chain about every 1k miles. I don't ride my bike that hard, and I use plenty of oil on the chain so mine doesn't wear fast at all. I check the tension before I ride everytime. It's easy to adjust the chain I can send ya instructions if you need them. Let me know.
