Friends, Wanted to introduce myself. I'm Serge from Washington, DC. Have been riding for over a year and have had a DUC MS1000 (returned to DUCATI under lemon law) and (currently) an SV650. As for the posts to Mike, the one thing that needs to be understood is that there are people out there who (saddly) might kill themselves due to inmature acts. I understand that any of us can die riding a motorcycle, but the chances of it being our fault are far less than the ones a guy like Mike faces. He is only twenty (based on the posted information) and feels he is inmortal. Being a new rider myself (but with 10 more years in my belt ... and belly) it has been key to be around drivers that keep my "adrenaline rushes" under control. I was twenty once (do you remember that song?) and drove cars as a mad guy on mountain highways for fun. Had I know what could have happened to me and how much I would have missed there are a couple of things I would definately had not done. Let them "pound" on Mike ... these posts (as rude as they may sound) may open his eyes and save his life. I do not know about you, but crashing twice in half a season - in both ocassions due to lack of experience (at that is a fact based on what he wrote) - gives me a bad vibe. I agree that experience is built with time ... but the trick is to last enough to become an experienced rider. Just a thought. Cheers, Serge |
