Default 04 GSX-R Gas Gauge

I just got my 04 600 last Friday. Great bike, with the best color (yellow) but I just noticed the 04 GSXR 6's don't have gas gauges. Or am I misreading the manual...?

I don't think any of the GSX-Rs have fuel gauges. I could be wrong. I know mine don't. But then again, mine are older than dirt

So how do you know when to fill up? When the gas gauge comes on?

A light starts flashing to warn you you are on limited time (about 20-30 miles left), if you ignore it the light will stop flashing and stay on.

Mileage ... know the range of your bike, and find a station when you get near that mileage.

It's luxurious to me to have the fuel light. My sportster has nothing. Just a reserve with about 8 miles on it.

Yellow the best??? I don't know about that, but I do know that Red is the fastest.

I've got the same bike as you, color and everything.

From my experience the light will come on when there is approx. a gallon left in the tank, plenty of time to stop for a fill up.

The biggest GSX-R has a fuel gauge (fairly accurate too) and two trip meters. Life is good!

Yeah, I wouldn't mind having a fuel gauge (oh well).

p.s.- The Busa is actually a "GSX".... sport tourer.

Obviously you haven't ridden one. It's all R Baby!

If there are any serious fuel gauge issues, one could always consult the giant brains at NASA...[cheap shot coming right up]...they could use some success with fuel gauges right about now and the system on a GSX-R shouldn't be too challenging for them...

Not sure NASA could fix that. I'd be worried if they did, anyway.

Yes, the Busa has an "r" at the end. It's still technically a sport-tourer. Doesn't matter... the 1k has more horses!

No, but it would still make for more crap to remove at the racetrack. Racebikes don't need fuel gauges.

that is the one thing i wish the bikes had, but dont fear, you do have an indicator light that will let you know when gas is low.

The GSXR's got enough crap to look at without having to worry about a fuel guage. Just use one of the trip odometers it came with. I get about 120-150 miles and its time to fill up. My throttle don't like to stay closed too often.
