Default What's a new '04 SV650 worth?

I know there is a lot of variance between areas, but what do you think would be a fair price on a brand new '04 SV650 - yellow. My local dealer has one as a holdover. The salesman said, "we could move pretty good on it since it's an '04." Obviously there must not be too much demand for this bike if they still have it sitting there, so they might let 'er go pretty cheap. MSRP is $5900... how low do you think they could go?

I'd say between 5K and 5,200 Them saying they could move it pretty good and it still sitting there is a good sign they are just trying to get that price for it, being you showed some sort of interest in it they told you that in hopes of you paying that as not to loose it to another buyer

Edit: I think he meant that he could move on price pretty good... aka give me a good deal to get rid of it. He didn't come out and say they couldn't sell it, but I think it was pretty obvious by other things that he said that they are having trouble getting rid of it.

Oh ok my bad guess I didn't understand it enough. Offer what you think wouldnt be to low but not to high lol. If you can show up with the green in hand they are getting ready to move it the 06's so if you were to show up with 5K or told them thats what you could do I don't think they would blow it off, sides if it was too low for them they would be vocal about it I'm sure.

Okay, cool, thanks... would you think I should say $5k 'out the door' or should that be before the tax/title/bs fee/ripoff tax/etc.? I guess try it first out the door and see what happens. I'm just not too sure how new bikes work... used to buying cars!

Just don't pay over MSRP and there are some 03s and 04s on dealer floors that would be better to try to work a deal on. And if it's not your price point, walk out and keep looking, call'em back in a week or two if you haven't found something maybe they'll lossen up on the price point.

Bear in mind many dealers are blowing out the '05s now, since it is the end of the '05 model year. A leftover '04 is a double leftover. When you deal, bear in mind that the dealer can't do anything about sales tax or the state registration fee - but many dealers will add on bogus profit padding fees like "documentation" "freight" "setup", etc. Freight and setup are already included in the MSRP - but get added on by some dealers to make a higher price seem lower.

We sell our 2005's for $5499. Keep in mind, no matter what the year of the bike is, the dealer will NOT sell it below their cost.
