I bought a Masterlock from my local bike dealer. They look like huge handcuffs with rubber padding inside the cuffs. I lock them to a pole and a front fork. The part that interested me most was the $3500.00 guarantee from Masterlock. That and my insurance coverage would pretty much replace my bike and all the mods. I also believe you can't stop a pro, but you can cut your losses as best you can. We have all sorts of bike crime here, jackings pick ups you name it. And the suzuki's are the thief's preference. Life in the big city is soo fun.

I know this post ended a lil while ago but for those still looking into getting disc locks. I just picked up a kryptonit for only $20 just to be a deturance when I leave it for a few hours in the company lot but the guy at the store suggested something to me that I did not see in the conversation.

There is a bungie cord that attaches to the lock at one end and the handbar at the other, not for security reasons but you will remember to take off the lock before you try to move the bike. Which makes sense, a month for me with just jumping on and taking off I would likely forget to remove the lock and there goes my whole brake assembly.

Just a suggestion that seemed like a good idea. Cord cost $6 but feel free to wrap anything around the throttle to remind you to unlock before causing few hundred $ worth of damage.

Nothing would suck more to buy a new lock to secure your bike and then trash it the first time you forget to take it off.

Very true. I saw this very thing happen to a guy with a brand new Busa. It wasn't a pretty site when I saw it in the bike shop.

I've also noticed that several other threads (in this and other forums) that covered similar subjects had the same post as the one above yours. Although it's a good post, it should have been included on the most recent thread (only) concerning said subject.
