Angry Another exhaust question

This might be a stupid question, but unless our changing your mount on your bike, whats the purpose of getting a full exhaust system, opposed to a bolt on or a slip-on if there's a difference?

Slip on is noise difference. A full exhaust is more HP.

If you take off the headers, you'll see that the nice chrome parts that are connected to the manifold contain a smaller diameter pipe where the exhaust gasses pass through. This smaller pipe increases the back-pressure on the manifold and reduces your engine's performance. An after-market full exhaust (which includes headers and silencer) has a larger internal diameter, so that the exhaust gasses can leave the cylnder faster (the engine can breathe easier). This gives you more power, but can also cost you more gas and makes the bike louder.

If you replace the exhaust, you need to re-program your fuel injection system, otherwise the bike will run too lean. A PowerCommander can be used (recommended), or you can just have the FI module reprogrammed by the dealership. The PC is recommended, because you can tweek and fine-tune the mixture until it's perfect for your riding style and needs.

Thanks, do I need a computer for the power commander. And if I know someone with one can I use there's or do you have to install it on a bike. When I here people using it they always say something about a computer so I'm just wondering?
