Default damaged gsxr600, how much should I pay?

This will be my first bike to purchase and I've been checking out this 2002 gsxr600 with around 7000 miles, however it's damaged in the rear from the seat back to the fairing, the exhaust is bent and the windshield needs to be replaced. Everything else is in good shape and it also has a clear title. What's the highest price that you guys would buy it for? and how much do you think it will cost to have it fixed? The frame and fork is fine. The seller tells me it just needs the rear fairing with all the lights/components, new exhaust, the tail and seat. Thanks

if you know how to do it yourself you can save a ton.
chesk the prices on e-bay, since you know what you need.
going to a dealershop will be expensive.
Why don't you ask for an estimate anyway?

Bad news, bad news, bad news. Don't get it. Did you ask him how he dumped it? It's way too powerful for a first bike. Go to the serch button at the top of the page and type in "newbie", "noobie", "first bike", "beginner". Lots to read.

buying a broke bike is never a good idea. you know people usually drive these things like crap. that is why i am reluctant by buy used. dealers are the way to go. new or used.

I had a 600 as my first bike its the rider not the bike i know people that started off with 1000's and are fine. Then i know people with 500's that arent. Just cause you have the power u dont got to use it. Id say if u get a decent deal go for it and the stuff shouldnt be to expensive the pipe if its stock then u would want after market anyways. If its already aftermarket then maybe see if you can have the stock pipe for a while.

So what you're saying is that you know the original poster (ImpulseRed) well enough to tell him to get a supersport bike for his first bike.
You just said it's the rider not the bike , we all know the bike and it's capabilities, so the only variable is the rider, and MOST (if not all) should start on a smaller CC bike.
Please do not give irresponsible advice.

I would avoid buying a wrecked bike unless I was a great bike mechanic with a nice shop to work in and lots of hours and parts $$$ to blow. A bike doesn't have to look too bad to be thoroughly screwed.

Also, a racing replica bike is not a good choice to learn on - but many people try to do so and that's why insurance is so high on them.

Learn to ride on a less powerful, less twitchy bike and your odds of survival go up.

Come on now, even the most conservative and experienced rider will "try it out" at some point (its human nature, or should I say bike rider's nature). In the hands of an inexperienced rider that spells trouble!

Those bikes are made to RED line, hence beat to ****. If you don't red line it, why ride it??? Buy a brand new Boulevard high cc's (sp?) or Sv650s.
