Updated With Results: Jessica Zalusky Wins CRA Trophy Dash At Brainerd
Jun 21, 2005

From a press release issued by CRA:

ZALUSKY MAKES HISTORY WITH THE CENTRAL ROADRACING ASSOCIATION

Brainerd, MN – Top racers from all across the Midwest gathered at Brainerd International Raceway for the third round of CRA racing action, held June 17-19.

In addition to the fierce racing, history was made by racer Jessica Zalusky. After a high-speed crash on Saturday morning, Zalusky came back strong to make history aboard her Kawasaki ZX-10R by being the first woman to take the checkered flag in the Trophy Dash Race (Expert class Unlimited Gran Prix). Zalusky led all 17 laps to take the win with over a 20-second lead on second place.

Dominating the Middleweight, Heavyweight, and Unlimited Expert classes, Wes Good, racing his Yamaha R6 and R1, and Shawn Conrad, racing his Kawasaki ZX-6RR and 10R, provided a great show of fierce racing. Good recently returned to racing after recovering from injuries sustained at BIR in May of 2005.

In the Lightweight Expert classes, Jeff Japs, aboard his Yamaha TZ250, and Jace Porter, racing his Suzuki SV650, battled for the checkered flag, while Jay Bryant continued his domination in the Ulralight expert ranks on his Honda RS125.

In the Novice ranks, Matthew Losen on his Honda CBR600, Jesse Smasal on his Suzuki SV650, and Nick Olsen on his Suzuki GS500 led the various Novice classes.

Next on the schedule for the CRA is another round at Brainerd International Raceway, July 15-17. Despite the cancellation of the AMA National at BIR, the CRA expects a big showing of racers for the upcoming race.

It aint easy I can tell you that! Good on her for the big win!!

It isnt just hard work for a 17 lap race....Its months of training and dedication along with a ton of hours in the garage working on your equiptment along with some help from friends, family, and sponsor's if your lucky enough to have them that gets you results like she got. It is hard enough just being competitive and even harder to win. She obviusly has a very good program going!

Didn't she finish in front of two guys in the AMA superstock up there a couple of weeks ago? Or was it Superbike?

Even Sir Bob Geldof couldn't get them back together for Live 8. Well the foreshadowing in Spice World about their future couldn't have been more accurate. Well it was fun while it lasted and I for one will miss Scary's Spices belly and navel.

Yeah I read that last week. She really must not like the others to pass up that photo op. If Pink Floyd can pull it together for the show the 5 of them could have.

Time will tell if a reunion "works" or not. The Beatles never wanted to reunite, and ABBA are also steadfast in their refusal ... both with the same arguements - there would be so much pressure to be as good as or better than people's memories - which is almost impossible.

Then again, a reunion of the Spice Girls or Take That wouldn't have to work very hard to be better than they were originally ...

I'm still wating for Dave, and Axl, to get there heads out of their own arses. Now that would be a reunion tour I'd pay a few hundred bucks to see. Only problem would be who opens for whom?

Well I can say that when Guns-N-Roses were the suprise closing act on the MTV music awards like 3-4 year ago it didn't matter if they were as good as they were back in the height of Appetite for Destruction or Use Your Illusions I/II. I honestly think the world stopped turning for a split second when they playing the intro cords to "Welcome to the Jungle".

Also up there are the Eagles - When Hell Freezes over tour and my personal favorite is the reforming of Fleetwood Mac for the Dance. I never had chance to see the Mac peform with the expection of videos and concert footage but the Dance performanc was beyond anything I could have expected knowing their history and turmoil. Okay I'll admitI almost cried when the USC Trojan marching band came out to reinact the recording of Tusk in the Trojan football stadium years back. Solo wise Stevie/Lindsay/Mick was great but alone they pailed in sucess and greatness of them all together.

My question is this: If they are the Spice Girls, how come only one has a spice name (Ginger)? I keep thinking the Spice Girls should be Sage, Cumin, Rosemary, Thyme, and Ginger; since Salt 'n Peppa is already taken... But that's just me...

Of course they are spices, I'm sure putting some Scary Spice and Posh spice on a slice of hot and homemade apple pie would be just as wonderfull and tasty as a healthy dash of Ginger Spice.
