Angry Stator Cover Slider

Has anyone ever seen or heard of a stator cover slider? I'm over in Japan and I see them on some of the bikes from time to time. If so where do you order them from?

Did you have to take your stator cover off? Or is there one where you can bolt the slider over the cover?

Checked the site, but do you have to buy a new cover that has the holes, or drill holes into your existing cover and apply the pads?

Are you talking about engine covers, or frame sliders?

I was talkin about stator cover sliders, I'll take a picture and post it to the forum. I try to ask some of the Japanese riders but I can't understand where they tell me they got'em from.

There are some carbon fiber stator cover 'covers' that fit over the top of your existing staor cover. They are hard-formed with a tacky exterior to resist sliding. According to the people that sell them they are the greatest thing since sliced bread. I won't buy any. A lot of carbon fiber add-ons serve absolutely no functional purpose. I find the price of those add-ons is also a little prohibitive.

What I wished to point out on the Woodcraft site was the star cover replacement. Yes: you must remove the OEM cove to install it.

Suppose you drop the bike on the slider. Do you have to take the stator cover off to replace the slider? I know that would be cheaper but I'm just wondering?

With the Woodcraft stator cover: yes. The stainless steel pad is affixed by three screws held with Loc-Tite from the inside. The Woodcraft unit is heavier and thicker than the magnesium OEM cover. It SHOULD survive a moderate direct impact, whereas the OEM will most likely crack under the same condition (usually on the inside).

Keep in mind that the pad is in place in the case of a stable SLIDE. If the bike does anything other than slide (in my case: high-side over and suffer a brutal impact with minimal forward motion) then the Woodcraft case may suffer cosmetic damage due the cover being a pivot point. If the impact is great enough to the stator cover to punch a hole, then there is nothing you can do no matter what product you purchase. Worst case scenarios can be thought up all day long, but I chose the Woodcraft over the OEM for durability. If you like, I can try to post a picture of my original stator cover after I wrecked.

Most racing organizations require them for GSX-Rs. Have for years. Much better improvement over stock. Why Suzuki doesn't just make them stronger like that from the factory is beyond me.
