Question Too high an idle?

my 2000 gsxr 600 idles way to high i think. Everytime i stay it, it climes up to 3500 and after funning a bit, gets even higher and very hot. Also when im rideing my bike it get hotter and hotter and idle's really high even at stop signs. anyone know what the problem myight be?

Try first adjusting the idle screw. Maybe it's just not set right.

Return throttle cable may not be working properly. Check the cables, and idle adjustments. You won't have a clutch soon if you don't. If you ride in dirty or wet conditions the linkage may need some lub.

Check your manual for idle adjustments. Mine is on the left side just underneath my gas tank, so it's a bit of a chore to change it. Also, when you do change it make sure you take it for a 10-15 minute spin. I had to raise mine after I put on my exhaust because it idled really low and stalled when I opened and closed the throttle. I set it to idle at like 1,000rpm then took off only to find after 10 minutes at a red light it was whining at 3,500rpm. hahaha not to mention when I let off the clutch my rolling speed was 30mph without hitting the throttle.......
