GS500 help please!

is it me or is just really hard to find stuff for the gs500... it seems like i cant find anything for this bike... does anyone know whwere i can find a owners manual for this bike?... how long does this bike usually take to warm up on a warm day?... do they make bar end sliders for this bike?... anybody know the specs on this bike for the year of 97... after how many miles are you supposed to an oil change? how do i know when my chain is needing to be greased?... how do i check my tire pressure and knwo what the right pressure is?... i have so many questions... anyone that can help.. thanks...

Well, since it's something of a starter bike, there isn't likely much of an aftermarket. Try Dennis Kirk for general accessories that might work. Owner's manuals are available from a dealer or Ebay seller, and you can do without one if you have a Clymer or Haynes manual and access to your friends at suzuki-bikes.com.

As far as all your mechanical questions... Oil is usually changed at a 3000 mile interval, or every year, whichever comes first. Lube your chain every 300 miles and clean it every few lubes. Warmup time depends largely on it's state of tune - a bike with gummed carbs or one out of synch will take longer.

I couldn't find any gs500 stuff either. but a little advice. if you see a dealer selling stuff on ebay remotely close to what you need. send him an E-mail. chances are he can get it for you and it's usually for like half price. RIDE ON!!!


PS. I clean my chain every 2 lubes.... which is every 1k miles and it goes quick. a pain in the ass if you ask me. I remove the rear tire and soak the thing in kerosene and use an old paintbrush to get the dirt and grime off of it. when i'm done the kerosene is black and all the dirt is at the bottom of the pan I use. u'd be amazed hom much crap comes off. takes a while but the results are a sparkly like new chain. then, I take some gear lube (like 80w140 or some crap and with the bike running and in gear on the stand (I know maybe not a good idea but I live dangerously) I put a tiny bit on the chain on the 2 sides where the pins connect. Then, I let that work in and spray it with bel-ray chain lube. keep the gear oil in and off my bike, and lubricated the chain too! the result is the cleanest lubiest chain in the WORLD!!! BUA HA HA HA HA!!
