| This might be a touchy topic, but if it is please let me know. Just wanted to hear some of your stories of how you became thrown from your two wheels. I have been rideing for a short period of time, say about 10 months. I just purchase my second bike a couple of weeks ago........said I would never buy another one after I wrecked. I was rideing a real curvey road, and just took it a little too fast. You know the feeling.....I got this one! We'll to say I got it, right down a 10 foot embankment head over heels. I only got a broke hand and some minor scratches (thank god). I never hit the brakes, just freaked out and ran right in to the other lane in to the grass. I knew that I was going down, so I just jumped off the bike, but my hand was still on the gas and slammed in to the dirt causeing it to break. I miss about 5-10 trees....went right through the middle of them and some big rocks. I realized then that I got the biggest WAKE UP call. It tore my honda 600 up pretty good,, and after that I sold it on EBAY. I told my self I was never going to buy another one, and we'll I can't go without rideing a motorcyle. I love the feeling of just getting away from everything/everyone for a good while. I respect my new bike more than ever, and I will think twice before thinking I could own the road like that again. I know that accidents are going to happen, and I feel sorry for someone who has had a freind get killed. I had a uncle who got hit by a dunk driver and was killed. I now realize that you are not promised tommorow, and you have to cherish every day like it is going to be your last, but you get caught up in what you are doing so much, it is easy to forget. We'll I said enough, and sorry if I bored you. SATA X Sorry, should have posted this somewhere else! Last edited by SATA X; 05-15-2005 at 03:20 PM. |

| Had the bike for only a month (as well as only a month of riding experience) and took a corner a little too fast, didn't lean enough and stood it straight up and started braking. Barely knicked the curb and low sided at about 50 mph. Had road rash out the yin yang and cracked the stator cover real good, also broke off the nipple of my shifter. Ouch.

| Sprocket Pilot ![]() | Been down a couple of times on a track but those don't count to me unless there is serious injury involved. On the street I have put one down. Was on my way home coming through a canyon and it started raining on me. Instead of using the little intelligence I had at the time and slowing down some I figured that if I rode faster then I would be wet for less time. Ended up lowsiding in a curve and staying wet for a very long time as I had to walk a couple miles to get to the nearest phone. Rashed up my left arm and shoulder. Been hit twice by cars, that always sucks.

| Low sided coming out of a junction, I blame cold tyres and possible diesel spill. I was also knocked off by a kamakazi van driver who "didn't see me". Done an impression of superman for about 10 feet until gravity realised I shouldn't be flying and brought me down. Don't let crashes put you off, you have to learn by your mistakes, not give up. Gixxerdale, that looks sore mate - YEWK!

| I don't think that there are too many who have never kissed the ground - no matter what they tell you. My worst caused me to go airborne for about 75 feet ( thats what the wittnesses said ). The car's bumper looked like an "S" afterward, but I never saw it in that condition. And that was in the days when it was made out of chromed steel, not plastic. The bike didn't survive!

| Zoe Dotes, Was that on a cruiser or sportbike. I noticed that you have a C50 and figured that maybe you got that so that you couldn't get into as much trouble. Just curious, Ralph

| I lowsided within 3 months of my first bike purchase. A cage pulled out in front of me, but I had plenty of time to react and stop, had I any skills. I was on a 40 hp Yamaha Radian. That's why I laugh at newbies who think they "can handle it" on a modern 600 racebike.

| That is cool... I like the riding position of the cruiser bikes. I may one day get me a sportbike, but for now I'm learning and enjoying what I have. Glad to see you survived that accident in 69... Stay safe, Ralph

| I didn't wreck, but I wanted to look cool so I SLAMMED my helmet on ground REALLY hard. Then I stuck my foot in it and made like it was a skateboard in the middle of the street. Having taken account of my actions, I still didn't feel quite cool enough so I grabbed my little finger on my left hand and bent it 90 degrees, breaking it just above the last joint, so it would lay over my other three fingers with zero effort. That was pretty cool. But still not quite there. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I grabbed hold of it again and proceded to reset it. Did pretty good, too! I figured people wouldn't really notice my finger after a few monthes, so I went ahead and threw my bike down, too... but just for effect, you see. Of course I had to go to the doctor and acquire some paperwork... you know, just in case anyone tries to validate my story. (so far, so good! nobody's disproven me yet!!)

| Kickstand Operator ![]() | Well, I definatly crashed my bike two weeks after I drove it home from the dealer. I was going around the corner, and I guess I didn't have my tires worn in enough...so I went ahead and dumped it in the ditch shortly after losing control on the pavement. Messed up the bike much more than me...thanks to the grass humans can take a dump on the grass and bikes can't. |
