Even if insurance is required, he could have had liability only, which means he doesn't have comprehensive or collision, so if it were stolen, wrecked, or burned in a fire (or damaged in any way, really), he's got to pay for the replacement/repairs, not the insurance company.

That's what I've got on my Katana and my Fiero, because if I were to carry full coverage, the premiums for one year would be more than the vehicles are worth.

yea, for me, insurance on a new sportbike would cost more than a new sportbike...

again, this new bike is going in my living room, so i dont think i am going to have to worry so much about theft any more...

yes, insurance is required... but again, no i didnt have it.

I am sure I will feel a little more "mollified" about the whole situation once i am sitting on my new bike (this afternoon hopefully)

and the word that kept getting censored in my first post was sh*t.

my %%%%% was jacked!

I'm really sorry to hear about what happened. A friend of mine got a new gixxer 600 when he was stationed at Keesler AFB, MS with me and then when he separated, he moved back to California. I told him he wouldn't have the bike a week before it was jacked. I was wrong....he made it two weeks. He kept it covered and chained up. I think thieves should be punished the way they are in other countries and then we probably wouldn't have as many.

Sorry about your bike going mate, some people have no respect.
On a plus side, at least they didn't hurt you to take it or break in for the keys.

Still bad news though.

Have you picked up the new bike yet?

Maybe you can get in on one of our weekend rides out of Montgomery. We go up 49 to Cheaha a lot!

And what about drug dealers? Did you hear about the dealer who was executed yesterday in Singapore? The caught him with 1 kilogram of grass (anything over 500 grams is considered dealing).

I could understand if it was a kilo of coke or heroin, but executing him for a kilo of marajuana?

Not saying I agree, but I bet the guy knew what the punishment could be if he got caught with that.

Different countries have different justice systems. I see nothing wrong with that.

Yah; over in Pakistan ~a week and a half ago, they cut some guy's head off in public with a sword - for trying to smuggle drugs into the country.

Yeah, IMHO that's what they should do to convicted bike thieves here, as well.

Yeaahp, I've had plenty of stuff stolen...lot's a money and cd players. If I ever caught em', I'd cut off one of their hands, and brand a nice "T" into their forehead, to let everybody know they're a theif that can't be trusted. Anyway...back to motorcycles and fun thoughts.

well, i got my new bike (got it friday in fact) and DAMN this CBR is a BEAST!!!

even more so than my gixxer was, mainly because of that whole throttle problem i had with that thing... but oh well, i can have some satisfaction in knowing that whoever buys that damn thing is going to have their share of problems with it

this CBR seems to have a lot more torque than the GSXR did, i know the GSXR would have taken the CBR in top speed however...

It's sickening that someone could do something so horrendous over something so inert.

Ooooh . . . a little pot. Stop the presses.

If the 'powers that be' concentrated on stamping out real problems instead of focusing efforts on the easy catch, we'd all be a lot better off.

Think of the all of the REAL crime that could be stopped if the effort were shifted to, say burglary . . . literally thousands of agents on the streets, undercover (just like in the 'drug war'), catching fences and crooked pawn shops, infiltrating rings of burglars and thieves. There's so many things worse in life than a dude with a bag of weed.

I feel your pain.... My bike got jacked last summer and I am in a constant struggle to ensure it doesn't happen again.

I just installed the Scorpio alarm so I'll see how this works out for me.
