Cool Already with the wheelies

I told myself when I got the bike..."Just break it in, drive nice, and wait until next year for learning tricks" Yeah right! I'm almost at the five hundred mile marker, and it's feeling quicker and quicker every day, and I don't think the front end really likes staying grounded. The wheelies have begun. I know a couple of places where I can practice, and I'm starting to get pretty consistant. Still haven't smoothly shifted into second though...any pointers?

Yeah, wait until that motor is completely broken in.

There are different schools of thought on that though . . .

Wear your gear and keep it away from public. Make sure you have someone there with you so WHEN you drop it they can help you get everything back up and possibly take you to the hospital

There's really nothing wrong with a wheelie if, in my humble opinion, it is done in a safe place. Such as a back road. Just please be careful.

Same thing that happened to Mike today, I guess. Stage Two, anyone?

Less than two weeks ago...

I'd say you're about right with the 0-60 stats. Thank's a lot for all your responses. I picked her up today, and holy smokes that v-twin has quite a bit of tourqe. I love it so far. I put 57 miles on in the north suburbs of chicago already in one afternoon. It's my first bike, and thus far everything has gone smoother than anticipated, except of course the reaction from my loved ones... Can't wait til' she's broken in. I'll put a picture up tomorrow or something, until then, thanks again guys, and I look forward to talking with you.

LayinLo, I'm not sure a cage would have helped you on that one, buddy.

I just hope you, or whomever was riding, is okay.

Yeah, I had taken my cage off and said I wasn't gonna try any slow wheelies that day. A buddy who I ride with asked me to show him some stoppies......which I kindly obliged.

Well, I have been working on rolling them, and after a a few, I decided to show him this too. The pads and rotors were hot so there was some fade, I grabbed too much brake right at the end and WHAM!!!

You're right, a cage would not have helped me. It flipped straight over and landed perfectly like that. I thought I broke my pelvis!

Yeah, I wasn't gonna stunt this bike, but I'm saving up for a NEW streetbike. I want the new Gix 1000 but don't need that much bike on the street. I'm waiting til they put that body work and changes on the 750's . Then I'm gonna get it. That will be my "riding with the boyz on a Saturday afternoon bike"!

Any sort of stunt or trick scare the heck out of me. Not so much for losing the skin on my arse or having broken bones but having to look at what I had done to a bike I had worked my butt of to get. A few of my fathers friends had noticed me on a few occasions tearing down streets or flying by them on the highway and let him know about it. He confronted me, and I had told him it was all true about flying. He actually said to me he'd rather hear about me doing tricks because he believed if something were to happen with loosing control of the bike during them that most likely I would have less of an injury per-say if I dumped the Busa at 120+. Either way I'm a top end freak and thats where I get my rush and like to be, I hang back on rides with friends and watch them.
