| In Training ![]() | Another small problem I am having with my '01 GSXR 1000 is that the low fuel light is always on, even if I cap off my tank... So, I never know how much gas I have, and I can't really tell if I am low... so I just have to play cautious and still up often... this gets very annoying however... Anyone konw what the problem could be, or how to fix this problem? thanks. |

| There should be a float in there. In a car (at least the ones I've seen) it's a simple mechanical thingy with a plastic float attached to an electrical thing-a-ma-jig. Remove tank . . . remove sensor . . . mess with it . . . re-install tank . . . see if it worked. Ron Ayers.com has microfiche on your bike. Take a look at the gas tank portion and see what's inside of it.

There should be a wire that clips to the tank somewhere. That would be where the sensor is located, I think. It may be a part of the fuel pump, I don't know. [EDIT: I looked at the fiche. Not much info there. The sending unit HAS to be somewhere in that pump assembly, I believe. Not much else there. If you decide to pull it mess with it . . . get a new fuel filter before you do, and change it while you're in there. That way, if hte fix doesn't work, at least you changed your fuel filter!! We've got a guy that screws with Gixxers on a regular basis. Maybe he'll step in and offer some real advice. Sorry.]
