| Newbie | New guy here...I need some opinions from the experts here, you guys. I am looking ay buying a GSX-R600 for a first bike. I have wanted one for a long time and a guy I know is selling his. Is this a good bike to start with and how is it overall? He is asking about $4000 because he said he needs to get rid of it but it needs a new tank. I have looked around and could not find a blue/white one. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to find one if I were to buy the bike? I am new to the sport/street bike thing so any info would be helpful. Thanks.

| Muscle Biker ![]() | Hi snowman81 ... No, the Gixxer is NOT a beginner bike. Take some time and look around the forum ... there is plenty of information how to get started. Use the "Search" function to look for "noobie". Take the MSF course FIRST. Buy the best safety gear you can afford. Get a beginner's bike like the GS500 - it's alot more forgiving than a racing bike like a Gixxer 600. This can save your life.

| Oh no here we go again ! Read through previous posts on site for this old tired question and answer exchange. Experienced riders here will agree with me when I say. Do not get a gixxer as your first bike! Take MSF Buy the best gear you can and wear it at all times. Get a bike with a maximum of 50 to 60 hp to start preferably used because chances are you're going to drop it. The GS 500 is a very good choice. Pick up the yellow pages all call for insurance quotes for a gixxer with zero riding experience and see how that goes. And before you even try to answer that you will behave yourself and exercise self control, that you don't want to outgrow the bike, you have a friend that started on a gixxer and in all his two months of experience as managed to stay alive,etc...
