Default SV650...Where are they?

I've been looking for a SV650, and no dealer within 200 miles of me has one. They all have the "S" models, but say there is no interest in the Standard naked model. Why is that? It looks on paper like a great bike. I'm from Northwestern PA, but don't know why location would matter. All the dealers are willing to order me a new one, but I'm not willing to commit without at least seeing the bike. Anyone have any ideas? How far out is it to have a bike shipped across country without seeing it first hand?

I just read that they're not nearly as popular as the S's because the fairing comes at such a small upcharge. Dealers tend to stock what sells.

I like the naked SV's as well. Have them order you one, they can't force you to buy it once it's there if you don't want to, right???

can they?

Technically I'm sure you're right. Problem is my local dealers don't seem too eager to do that for fear if I don't eventually buy it, they'll be stuck with it. I can't understand that after all the positive reviews the naked SV650 has received. hmm......Is this the bike you ride Suzuki Girl?

I have the S version, but I really like the naked version too. I would've probably gone w/ the naked bike, but since my GS was naked, I was looking for something a little different.

I think the naked version w/ the little aftermarket mini windshield looks really hot!

I'm all for naked!

Except on the Gixxer - gotta have the plastics...shows off the color of the jacket & helmet MUCH better!

I have a SV650. It is an amasing all around bike. Since I do not drive at over 80 for long periods of time the wind buffering is not an issue. My dealer in MD had three. They sold within a month and now they are trading their "Ss" for naked ones. Aparently people like the naked for a Sunday ride ... a couple back roads and an ice cream downtown. If you plan on chassing your buddys around the county you may want the "S" version.

Cheers,

Yeah the SVS out sells the SV 10 to 1 in the 2004 model year run. But I'm sure you can find a suclent 05 in yellow with that spiffy new black frame!!! I know the dealers around hear have them on the floor ready to take home.

i bought my "S" model in Roseville,CA. they had 4 of them on the sales floor. all 4 were the S model and i have yet to see a naked model in a showroom. there are plenty on the road, but i havnt found a showroom containing one. that is an interesting observation
