Default New 1000cc bikes

I was lookin' in a few bike magazines at the book store last night, continuing my search for semi-affordable ins. and I noticed that some of these new 1000cc bikes are puttin' out more than 180hp! I have no idea what the rating is on my Busa but these bikes are about 100lbs lighter as well. Anybody have any idea how these bikes perform as compared to the larger cc bikes? Just curious because a friend had told me that his ZX10 would smoke a ZX12.

The advertised numbers have proven to be optimistic. Magazine testers put them in the 160's at the wheel. You mean you bought a Hayabusa without inquiring as to its rated horsepower? IIRC, they're about 160 also.

And FWIW, one bike does not smoke another. A rider does. And most riders can't launch a ZX-anything worth crap.

Yup...I'm one of the few people that buy a 'busa not because of it's HP rating or top speed, I actually like the way the bike feels when I'm on it and the wider stance that it has. I thought it was more my style than some of the more petite bikes. Besides, whether I was on a 1300cc bike or a 600cc bike, I'm not experience enough yet to take advantage of what either has to offer so speed wasn't of importance, they're ALL fast!

what about the same rider on both bikes? yes that sounds like a very talented rider to ride both at once, but you know what i mean.

i'll put my money on the......jeez, do you go for displacement for extra grunt or power to weight....err i think the 12 would be a bit easier to get off to a quick start, the wheelbase on the 10 might just make it too wheelie happy

BTW blue busa, good on you for choosing the bike that fits you, it's one of the biggest mistakes riders make is choosing a bike they're not comfortable on, sportbike or otherwise

Default cycle world

testers from cycle world state that it is exremely difficult to ride the 10 on the street, has a race only sittin position -way leaned over- and a hell of a power band. personally i would just sit pretty w/ur busa cuz if it aint broke dont fix it.....and remember u can b s about 1/4 mile times and cornering abilitys but thats all coming from pros, on the street the only way to become faster is to become a better rider....get some more experience and have fun/b safe

My point was that most street-only riders don't have the skills or consistency to make the bike the determining factor. If, on the other hand, we're talking about an experienced racer, yeah, it matters what bike you're on.

The Busa is all about mad torque. The horsepower is right there at the throttle. The GSXR's you have to learn to get to the torque due to the low weight factor. The Busa is heavier and much more of a controllable horsepower than the lighter GSXR's who have a lot of uncontrollable horsepower for the average street rider.
