Got proof of that?

Lincolns are 5.4L 4v

Fords are 5.4L 2 or 3v.

Actually, both the Lincoln and the Ford use a 5.4L SOHC 3V motor.

2009 Ford Expedition Features | Official Site of the Ford Expedition | FordVehicles.com

2009 Lincoln Navigator Vehicle Specifications | The Official Site of the Lincoln Navigator | Lincoln.com

You may have to actually click the specs link, as there is a lot of flash in use and I'm not sure this link will take you directly to the specs page.

The 32V motor hasn't been used in the Navigator since 2004, and hasn't been used at all since 2007, when it was last used in the Mustang GT500.

The 3V/cylinder motor has been used in both the expedition and the navigator since 2005. Prior to 2005, the expedition used a 2V/cylinder design.

Quite literally, the only design spec I'm able to find between the motors according to chiltons is the Ford is 9.85:1 compression, and the Lincoln is 9.5:1.

I'm inclined to believe the Lincoln manual calling for 91 octane fuel is just a matter of poor editing/laziness. Until a complete model overhaul is done, the "norm" is simply to edit last years manual with the small tidbits to make it relevant for this years model. Someone probably just hasn't edited the Lincoln manual properly.

The Motortrend article I read failed to report the switch from the InTech engine to the Triton (Ford version). Which happened in '08 I believe.

lower octain fuel can and will clog your fuel injectors and gunk up your intake valves, intake runners in the cilnderhead and intake manifold,if thats all you run, seen it first hand, cheep gas,you get what you pay for, and on a bike I dont know about you guys but my bike tank holds 4 gollans,so whats that about 8 bucks to fill up?
even at 5 dollers a gal Ill always use super.

*cough*loadofcrap*cough*

If it "can and will", a whole bunch of us would be standing along the road right now. That's just wrong. You get kickbacks from big oil for saying things like that, don't you? I can't think of any other reason you would.

gas threads, oil threads, harley threads... they all end up the same way. Use lowest stuff that doesn't cause your engine to knock and all is good
