I think he was refering to the original post. I don't think he noticed it was a dead thread.

Navigator has 32 valve (and DOHC) vs. 2-3 valve per cyl on the same displacement for the Expedition.

Pretty obvious that it is NOT exactly the same engine.
The Lincoln likely has a higher HP rating.
Slightly different valve and ignition timing is sometimes all it takes.

They need to make vehicles that run on broken promises, crushed dreams, and hefty piles of BS... we have an abundance of all three in America the Great

I'm aware I'm a little behind on the post, back tracking a little, but really, digging up the roots of the original post... my cruiser really got crudded up when I ran premium 93 octane... supposedely the compression wasn't high enough to combust all of it or whatever..? this sound good to yall? this is what I was told... please correct me if this is a load of crock.

It is a stretch but possible. I can see how it might be prone to a little more carbon buildup but very little.

I saw diesel as cheaper than gas last time I checked... 87 was at 2.65, and Deisel was at 2.30 or so.

Edit: Grand... I failed to confirm that the post I was replying to was actually on the last page.

Ya, well my last two Seville's had the "same" whatever, whatever engines too.....but one had higher compression, an extra 40 horses, IIRC, and required premium fuel.

You can't really say they are the same without seeing all the spec's.

Judging a book by it's cover, and all that !!

with that much compression an horsepower increase coming from a car manufacturer, than either it got a charge upgrade or a different engine... different litre size but same amount of cylinders... (Man i hope that made sense..lol)

Actually, both the Ford and Lincoln motors are rated at 310hp/365lb-ft. Both are rated at a swell 14/20 mpg both engines are built at the same plant in Windsor, Ontario, and both are considered to be Flex Fuel engines even though Ford prominently displays this on the vehicle and in advertising while Lincoln does not, and instead only mentions it in passing in the manual.

Oddly enough, the Ford has the higher compression ratio (though only slightly), but the Lincoln owners manual calls for 91 octane fuel, and the Ford manual calls for regular 87 octane. Both can, as Flex Fuel vehicles, also use E85.

OK, so it's a screw up in the manuals........or a marketing "trick".

OR the valves are electronically controlled and the Lincoln has a different "program".....in which case, it is still a mistake in the manuals 'cause that should be reflected in a higher HP rating or compression......or both.
