Default GSX650F vs. Bandit

Still leaning towards a Bandit for myself, waiting for the 2009's to come out to see what little tweaks they may bring. (Congrats to ORBrit on your "steal of a deal")

I'm another one of those looking for a commute bike during the week (about 10 miles of small city driving each way), with the ability to travel throughout the flat state of Florida with my girlfriend on the weekends (usually around a 250-mile trip each way). Occasional trips to the ATL to see STP and crew, occasionally to the Smokies and BRP, maybe some more Dragon Slaying. The Bandit is obviously great for this, but may be more than I would need.

I enjoyed my M50, but wanted more. It was a great beginner bike, no complaints whatsoever. The Yamaha Warrior was alot of fun, but since I will now be riding with a pillion, it was time for a change. The Warrior is sold and I am now looking for my next steed.

What are the thoughts on the GSX650F? (congrats also to 07M50AllDaWay on your purchase).

I've heard it referred to as the "Bandit's little brother". I really like the looks of it. I was planning on adding a lower faring to the Bandit, so to save $1800 of the initial cost and another $600 for the faring would be really nice.

However, I have questions about the GSX ability to go 2-up. I'm at 5'10" and 190#. Since I would suffer an excruciatingly painful demise if I told you the weight of my beloved, I can only say our combined weights would be around 320#.

Would that be any concern for this bike? I don't expect the power like the Bandit has (given its displacement is 50% less), but I would think a 650 cc bike should be more than enough anyways. (I'm still amazed to hear 650-800 cc bikes called "middle-weights").

I really like the ABS with the Bandit, but am also comfortable giving that up for the GSX (but who knows what the 2009 models may bring).

I've spent some time on the SV and on the Wee Strom, but neither bike does it for me. I have been very happy with the Suzuki lines, so I am staying in that family.

So my decision is between the Bandit and the GSX650.

I appreciate all insights and advice.
