Default Oh my goodness

Folks I took the sport bike for a spin to bike night and then went for a nice little ride with my son and a couple of friends and all I can say is wow! I can't imagine riding a real bad boy sportbike this FZ1 is all I can stand or want to stand should I say I never had it over 7000 RPM's and hit 110 like it was nothing. I should have riddin one of these years ago instead of the cruisers I love it and am hooked on the sport bikes now I think. I still will ride the cruiser when the wife wants to go but man this thing is fun!

There's not much difference between an Fz1 and most sportbikes short of a Hayabusa. It's based on the R1 engine, after all.

0-60 times are, what, .1 second apart? 0-100 times, maybe .5? Is that substantial on the street? Nah.

There is like a 6hp difference at least in the 07 models.

2007 R1

2007 FZ1

I have a buddy that has a 02R1 and another that has an 02FZ1. Now they both have aftermarket stuff on, but there isn't that much difference in the butt dyno.

The 150hp mentioned for the Fazer is likely crankshaft. I think it`s more like 130-135 at the tire, but that`s not terribly significant on the street.

The main difference is the weight I would think. The engine itself is pretty much the same with minor variations of course ( little less RPMs on the standards, minor valve differences if memory serves, etc ).

and to add, yeah... I'm on the GS500F atm and in a little less than a year I plan to get the 2008( or 2009 ) Hayabusa. I'm pretty tamed and reserved on the throttle so I won't be a dumbass on it, but I LOVE the style/sound/(and duh)performance of the busa. It's my dream bike.

I've thought about it over and over, and I just can't come up with a good reason to buy a 'Busa. There's nowhere you can use that. I can get to 120 mph in about nine seconds on the Bandit. Why would I want more? More weight, more insurance, more expense. Just not for me.

Hope you like it.

Glad to hear you've converted to a sport bike! I have yet to experience the torque of a 1000, but I've heard it's a great feeling. I'm already making plans to upgrade to a gixxer thou, but not for another year or two.

Yes because that's the only measure...

Truth be told I wouldn't be surprised if an FZ1 was faster than an R1 in a roll on test.
