Default Looking at 2 different FZ1's thinking seriously about getting me one.

What say you experts? I like the feel of the bike but like the looks of the FZ6 better but want the power of the 1. Is there a better bike out there in y'alls opinion that is in the same class as the FZ1 is as far as not being a full blown sportbike that doesn't have the handle bars so far down. I like the feel and way the FZ's fit my body better just looking for more options without having to run across the country and deal with a bunch of salesmen.

Thanks.... you guys have given me some great ideas and info so far on this type of bikes.

What's your budget? Have you sat on the Bandit 1250? I have yet to hear a single significant complaint about them.

I would consider:
Suzuki Bandit 1250, SV1000S, Vstrom (1000)
Aprillia Tuono
Ducati Multistrada
Triumph Speed Triple 1050
Buell XB12 (any variation)
BMW R1200R, K1200R

And there's more. I think the Bandit 1250 is it's closest competitor. But I'm not really an expert.

JmalB beat me to suggesting the V-Strom 1000. The other suggestions are great also.

Default FZ6 vs FZ1

Same here, only I think I will go for a new FZ6 "limited edition" (naked, not Fazer) orange and black in colour. It is simply the most beutifull bike I have ever seen (eyes tear up) and the ride is like I died and gone to heaven.

I must admit, as a sportsbike the FZ1 wins head over tails, but I am more into the naked bikes (I am a minimalist Scandinavian living in Switzerland). Why did you pick the FZ1 over the FZ6?

For many (most?) in the US, we tend to get sucked in by looks and have little understanding of what "minimalist" even means.

Wretched excess.......what's that ??
