i guess this will be my first post here! been lurkin as a guest for a little while.

i got my 05 750 GSXR not too long ago (4 weeks) and it's been pretty cold here recently.. been breaking it in also..so nothing crazy. so far been up to indicated 100 and back down...keeping the speed and gears varied as much as possible..(correct thing to do in breaking it in..right?) i can say that i've never felt acceleration like that before..kept a smile on my face all day

i do have an 04 RX-8 that i've been up to 152 in..i'm gonna have to beat that on my bike someday... would love to get some track time.. maybe talledega?

7fiddy!

Watch out for Pihny, I think he's got NO2 injectors in his RX-8!

As for how to break properly in an engine ... ask two people, and you'll have 4 different opinions. Your owner's manual says to take it nice and easy, don't go near the redline. Then there is the Internet community who says that you should make sure the engine is warm, then ride it hard - redline, idle, cruise, redline, etc. I don't know which is correct (I bought my 1400 with 1000 miles on the clock), but I tend to think that using the whole range (from idle to redline) makes more sense. If the engine is going to fail due to a manufacturing error, it doesn't matter if you ride it easy or hard - it's going to fail anyway.

I've heard that a TRE will remove the top-end restriction on the Gixxer...over here, most cars and bikes are limited to 250kmh (155mph), although most *could* hit 280kmh (175 mph) if they weren't being restricted.

I'm not sure (haven't tried it myself) but a few users have changed their 'nick' in the past - I don't know if this themselves or with the help of a mod or admin. I'm sure if you ask Louis or Uncle Bob, they'll help you out.

Can't take your bike on the track at Talledega except for the winter ride but it only for a lap.

You can go to Barber in Birmingham. NESBA has several track days at Barber this year. The nearest ones are March 25-26. We are trying to get a group together to go to a few. Let me know if your interested.

There are places to do highspeed legally, find them and use them.

I bet 185 is a blast ... ON A TRACK. On public roads, it's just plain f'ing stupid.

my '03 sv650 cuts out at like 131mph with a slight downhill slope. usually cuts tops out at 129mph on dead flats... but its not all that safe... sometimes raccoons and opposums like to creep accross the backroads. thank goodness for baby wipes and spare tighty-whiteys
