Default Top Speed

Well, I'm pretty conservative when it comes to speed...
The fastest I've gone is 95 on the freeway...it was amazing how many people were still passing me in their cars!!

Me being conservative about speed is another reason why I wanted my own bike...my boyfriend, his brother, and thier dad are little speed demons and they like to rip around at 100+ mph...not me! I start freaking out about what might happen if I hit a patch of gravel, pothole, etc.

I like having control of my bike, not the other way around!

That's another reason why I'm tossing the idea around of going to a track school...I'd like to ride faster, but I want the right training so that I will know how to still ride "smart"...even though I'd be going much faster.

Well if you call freeway a public road- yes- in the car pool lane, there is a nice section devived with walls nerby down town, I did it once and I am pretty glad I did it, now I feel much more comfortable with the bike and don't feel like speeding up at every possible occasion.
And all about the bad name and all...
please...........

I'm the same way. I freak myself out all the time, at what could be on the road - LOL! I can't see myself zigzagging through cars at 100+ speeds, but I'd like the confidence of knowing that I had the skill to do so, which is why I want to go to track school as well.

I'm tentatively planning on next spring, at a track down in WV - Summit Point:

That's the most intelligent thing I've seen in this thread.

Hey.. I wasn't claiming an over-abundance of intelligence. I don't want to be Einstein.. I LIKE living in ingorant bliss! ... Just not when it comes to my bike (ADD: SuzukiGirl gets credit for that as well).

Just remember, Einstein was not perfect. Some of his theories have since been proven wrong.

Granted, he did put his brain to better use than most of us, but he wasn't perfect.

BTW, he studied at the ETH (technical university) in Zurich

He also was a part of the intellectual elite that met at what became the Harnack House (US Army Officers Club) in Berlin.

There was a name for the "club" and location before the Nazis took over, but that escapes me right now.

RRRRRRRRRR . . . I was stationed there for two years and cannot remember that stuff anymore! I think he also taught at the Berlin Freie Universitaet, located right down the street. Oh yeah, female college students, summertime in Europe in the park, ahhhh.

We passed by there every afternoon on the way back to the barracks. There were a lot of "freed twins" laying in the park, if you catch my drift!

I'm pretty sure 255 is a lot slower in Canada than it is in E-u-rope.

It's faster in USA. 255 mph = 410 kmh

Question 4 U Red. If you get stopped by a cop in a 55 mph zone doing 59.4 (which is 8% over actual according to you) do you think that 8% pitch would work ?
Of course that depends on the officer, but I'd say no. I've seen an officer reject an oversized tire claim (my dear, sweet mother's only ticket ever), and most excuses just don't fly. Besides, if you know it's 8% over, why would you make the mistake of speeding?

Yeah, really.

"Officer, my speedometer is inaccurate. I thought I was going 8% faster than that. You may have gotten me when I slowed for that turn, 'cause there for a while, I was going WAY over a hundred."

my buddy just got a ticket and this is a great story. He was doing cruising at 120 at night and the state tropper was on him the whole time but WAY back. When he got off the highway and was making a right turn the cop pulle behind him and starts flashin the cherries. The cop told him thanks for not runnin and gave him a ticket @82 in a 60. The cop said he was doing 110 and couldnt catch him and when he finally did get radar on him he was doing 82. troopers usually are NOT that cool.

Believe it or not, TN troopers always give you a fair shake.

They almost NEVER let you go with a warning, but you don't see them abusing their power, they are open-minded (like at a wreck scene) and they always exhibit professionalism and courtesy.

I take usually accept their tickets with a smile, knowing I got fair treatment.

Now the REST of the departments . . .

Nashville State Trooper let me go. She pulled me over, saw my uniform hanging in the front window, and told me to slow down.
